let’s get under the sheets and i
will tell you that you’re beautiful

sometimes i like telling men that
they’re pretty just to get their reaction

with you i will go a step further
and tell you that you’re beautiful

because you are and because i have to
say something so why not that

when we are bored with being under the sheets
(which why would that happen anyway but let’s
say it did) we can maybe emerge to take a bath

together, which no one does in real life

i want to do things with you that no one does
in real life, that’s how i know i love you

maybe it is more realistic
that we will go to wawa and get some
breakfast sandwiches

well i will not get a breakfast sandwich
because i find them pretty gross

but you will probably get a breakfast sandwich
because you are normal like that

and i won’t mind, and that is how i will know i love you

i will not tell you i love you because it would be weird
and scare you away but i will want to tell you i love you
when we are under the sheets or in the bath or in line
at wawa. especially when we are under the sheets.

but i won’t say it. i will just tell you that you’re beautiful
and then hit you in the face with a pillow or say something
mean and you will say, ‘why did you do that?’

and i won’t know what to say because we are not there yet
and i want to increase our chances of getting there one day
so i will just say ‘because’ instead of ‘because i love you’
and change the topic with a smooth segue like
‘i’m hungry let’s go to wawa.’
